▍Watch out for scams when playing games if free items are offered

If someone contacts you and offers to give you free in-game items, points, skins, or game currency when playing games on your smartphone, be very careful

Common scams

•Use of “free in-game items” to lure in victims: Scammers claim items are being given away as part of a promotion, that a player who has quit the game is giving away equipment, or that game points can be purchased at a low price

•Scammers ask players to add them on LINE to engage in private communication: They then move the transaction from the official game platform to LINE or other messaging software

•Scammers send suspicious links and ask you to take specific actions: You may be asked to log into your game account, enter personal information, verification codes, or “to first complete verification” before receiving the free items

•Scammers may ask you to pay first or provide account information: They may ask players to transfer a “processing fee,” “deposit,” or “unlocking fee,” or use the opportunity to try and access your gaming or financial accounts

If you encounter any of the above situations, be vigilant and never provide your account password, text message verification code, credit card or other personal information
