▍How to avoid becoming a scam accomplice when looking for work

Recently, scam gangs have been posting “high-paying job” offers on social media platforms. In reality, they are recruiting people to act as in-person cash collectors.

Many job seekers mistakenly believe they are merely helping to collect money or deliver items, but by so doing unwittingly become accomplices in scams, and could even face criminal liability or deportation.

When looking for a job, it is important to always remain vigilant and remember the following:

Be skeptical : Check whether the company is legally registered

Be certain : Confirm the job duties are clearly explained

Do not go alone : Inform friends or family where the interview is taking place, or ask someone to go with you

Do not pay fees : Avoid unreasonable or unclear fees

Do not accept clearly illegal work : Examples include jobs that involve collecting money or transferring cash

Do not hand over : personal documents such as ID or bank account details

Do not sign : documents or apply for credit cards

Do not buy anything that is not clearly detailed : Avoid unclear or suspicious products

Do not consume : any unknown beverage or alcohol

Jobs that promise “easy work, high pay and quick money” often come with related risks. Always remain vigilant and if you have any concerns, call the 165 Anti-Fraud Hotline. If you require interpretation services call the 1955 Hotline.
