▍Do you know what types of insurance are available for foreign workers in Taiwan?
Labor insurance - If a company employs 5 or more people, it is mandatory to provide employees with labor insurance. This offers assistance if an individual suffers a work-related injury, illness, maternity, disability, or death. Live-in foreign care workers can be voluntarily enrolled on labor insurance by their employers.
Health insurance - Having health insurance enables you to make big savings when seeing a doctor and getting medication and there is also an illness/injury waiver program. Employers are required to enroll foreign workers on the national health insurance program within three days of them receiving their residence permit.
Labor occupational accident insurance - If a foreign worker is injured or falls ill while working, he or she can apply for medical or salary benefits. The insurance premium is paid in full by the employer and cannot be deducted from the worker’s salary.
Employers are legally required to provide foreign workers with insurance. In addition, employers of live-in foreign workers are encouraged to voluntarily enroll them in labor insurance. If you have any related questions, call the 1955 Hotline for a consultation or to file a complaint.
