Know your rights

•Every worker has the right to look after his or her passport, alien resident certificate, and employment permit

•An employer or labor broker cannot keep or withhold these documents without your consent or confiscate your property

•They can only temporarily hold onto your documents when helping to apply for residency or arranging a health check-up, and even then must first get consent

•If an employer or labor broker illegally withholds your documents or property, they can be fined NT$60,000-NT$300,000
