Year-round-Viral gastroenteritis:

•Incubation period: 1-3 days, symptoms last 2-3 days and include vomiting, fever and muscle aches

•It is important to rest, stay hydrated and replenish electrolytes

more common in summer-Bacterial gastroenteritis:

•Incubation period: half a day to 5 days and causes bloody or pus-filled stool; illness can last 7–10 days and be more severe

•Seek immediate medical attention and, if necessary, take antibiotics

Recovery tips-Even though gastroenteritis is common, in the event of severe symptoms seek immediate medical attention

Drink diluted sports drinks to remain hydrated, avoid oily, spicy, dairy, and sugary foods
