When someone collapses, stops breathing and their heart stops beating, it is important to act within the golden first 4 minutes and start CPR immediately
1.Ensure the scene is safe
2.Try to wake the person and check if they are breathing
3.Immediately call 119 for the emergency services
4.Begin chest compressions
•Press 100–120 times per minute, at a depth of 5-6cm
•Place both hands in the center of the chest, one on top of the other
•Allow the chest to fully recoil after each compression without stopping
5.Use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator)
•Turn on the device, attach the electrode pads and follow the audio prompts
•When the AED says to deliver a shock, make sure no one is touching the patient, then press the shock button
Continue to perform CPR and use the AED as instructed until the patient regains consciousness or emergency services arrive and take over
