•Is the website suspicious? - If the website is overly suspicious compare it to more commonly seen news websites

•Is the source ofthe information trustworthy? - If a report comes from an unfamiliar institution or unknown organizationcheck their background

•Is the format ofthe article irregular? - Are there many misspelt wordsor is the layout unusual

•Does the timemake sense? - Untruthful articles might change the chronological order of things or use fake dates

Three steps to identify misinformation

•Checkthe source - If the information comes from one unknown or anonymous sourceyou need to be vigilant

•Do a reverseimage search - Use search tools to check whetheran image hasbeen altered or is misleading

•Comparereports - Check whether more reliable media sources are reportingthe sameinformation
