A:My family told me they plan to send me some hometown ham, I can’t wait.

B:You need to tell them not to do that. It’s illegal to send pork products to Taiwan. You can not only be fined NT$3 million, you could be sentenced to jail and it may even impact your residence status.

A:Wow that sounds serious. What should I do then?

B:You should tell your family to send other daily necessities or hometown snacks that do not contain pork, as that’s not illegal and will also help with your home sickness. You should also encourage them to look up related regulations.

Remember
