▍Workplace knowledge 4 key ways to prevent electric shock
When electrical equipment is used in a work place, unexpected electric shocks can happen at any time and if protective measures are not put in place easily cause occupational injury.
Remember these four steps to protect yourself and others
•Electrical inspection-Before engaging in any work conduct an inspection to determine whether there is electrical leakage from machine tools or surrounding metal objects
•Turn off the electricity-Be sure to turn off the power switch to ensure no live operations
•Voltage testing-Confirm the power is turned off to avoid accidents
•Protective shielding-If the power cannot be turned off, use properly insulted tools (including gloves, protective clothing, insulated footwear) when conducting operations and shield the live area
In addition, check that the equipment is properly grounded and equipped with an earth-leakage circuit breaker to reduce the risk of electric shock.
If you encounter any problems with a workplace, make your concerns known to a supervisor or other professional.
