▍Avoid falling victim to secondary scams

Protect your personal data and property

Foreign nationals who work in Taiwan should be aware that scam gangs use text messages, advertisements and social media platforms where they pretend to be pro bono lawyers or financial experts and claim to be able to help you retrieve money lost in an earlier scam. In fact, this is just part of the ongoing scam.

Commonly seen methods

•Pretend to be an expert-The scammers pretend to be a related rights expert and claim to be able to help you track and retrieve money lost in an earlier scam.

•Request the payment of fees-They will ask you to provide personal data and pay a fee or security deposit.

What to do?

•Do not readily trust any suspicious or untrue advertisement

•Do not provide your person data or pay any fees

•If you believe you are being scammed immediately report the matter to the police or call the 165 Anti Fraud Hotline and seek their assistance. If you require an interpretation service call the 1955 Hotline.
