▍5 heat injury response measures

If you feel dizzy, confused, physically overheated or your temperature exceeds 40 degrees Celsius follow the measures below:

•Shade-Take an individual suffering from heat injury from a high temperature environment and place them in a shaded and well-ventilated area

•Undress-Loosen or take off items of clothing, elevate your legs, lie flat and rest (if you vomit lie on your side and make sure your airway remains clear)

•Heat dissipation-Spray water over your body and ventilate as quickly as possible to promote sweating. Wrap ice cubes in a towel or take a canned iced drink and press it to your neck, armpit and groin area.

•Drink water-If clear headed drink a diluted sports drinks or cold water with a little salt. When   individuals are confused do not give them water to drink.

•Go to hospital-Call 119 or take the individual suffering from suspected heat injury to a local hospital.

During the summer in Taiwan the high temperature can easily cause heat  injuries. Be aware, the fatality rate from heat stroke is as high as 80%.
