▍Employers are required to provide live-in care workers with accident insurance for the duration of their employment in Taiwan.
The employer says Taiwan’s government requires all foreign workers to have occupational accident insurance and health insurance so they receive compensation in the event of an accident at work. Does that mean when the period covered by the original commercial insurance ends it is continued? Is that reasonable?
Occupational injury insurance has a different scope to standard accident insurance as the former does not cover accidents that occur outside work.
As such, if an employer hires a live-in care worker he or she should take out accident insurance as stipulated in the provisions of the labor contract.
