1. On May 17, 2021, the CECC announced that in light of the increased severity of the COVID-19 pandemic both at home and overseas, in order to ensure the efficacy of domestic pandemic prevention work and the health of Taiwanese, it was introducing a temporary ban on the entry of non Taiwanese nationals without a valid Alien Resident Certificate, from midnight (arrival time in Taiwan) May 19 to June 18, other than where special permission is given for emergency or humanitarian considerations. As such, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will temporarily stop processing visa applications.
2. On June 11, 2021, the CECC announced that for the duration of the Level 3 COVID-19 alert it would continue to implement “strict border control” measures, including continuing the temporary ban on non Taiwanese nationals without a valid Alien Resident Certificate, other than where special permission is given for emergency or humanitarian considerations. As such, for the duration of the Level 3 COVID-19 alert the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ overseas missions will temporarily stop processing visa applications.
