▎From January 1, 2024, foreign workers can apply to the National Immigration Agency for a multiple entry permit

The National Immigration Agency (NIA), Ministry of the Interior, announced that from January 1, 2024, foreign workers applying to the NIA for any residency related matter, such as a residency certificate, a residency extension or a change in personal information, will be issued with an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) that includes a multiple entry permit, allowing multiple reentries into Taiwan.

A reminder to employers, labor brokers and foreign workers in Taiwan

•If a foreign worker does not need to leave the country it is not necessary to apply for a single reentry permit. Wait until applying for a residency extension or change in personal information and an alien resident certificate will be issued that includes a multiple reentry permit.

•If a foreign worker needs to leave Taiwan and return before a new residency certificate is issued, then in accordance with regulations it is still necessary to apply to the NIA for a reentry permit before leaving the country. Go to the NIA’s “Foreign Labor Online Application System”https://gov.tw/hr8 attach a copy of your airline ticket or seat booking out of Taiwan and apply for the issue of a new alien resident certificate using the change in personal information method, to be picked up on returning to the country.
