標題:Information to prevent foreign workers from violating the law

內容:

• It is forbidden to slaughter animals such as dogs and cats. Slaughtering an animal is a violation of the Animal Protection Act and carries a maximum penalty of two years’ imprisonment and a fine of TWD 200,000 to 2 million. A convicted person may be dismissed under the Employment Service Act and be deported and never be allowed to reenter Taiwan for employment.

• It is forbidden to possess or consume dog meat or cat meat. Possession or consumption of dog meat or cat meat is a violation of the Animal Protection Act and carries a maximum fine of TWD 250,000. Multiple violations are each fined separately.


• It is forbidden to steal dogs or cats raised by others. Stealing or preparing to steal animals raised by others carries a maximum sentence of five years’ imprisonment. A convicted person may be dismissed under the Employment Service Act and be deported and never be allowed to reenter Taiwan for employment.


• Foreign workers are encouraged to report such cases. If you find [or suspect] that someone is slaughtering dogs or cats or selling dog meat or cat meat, you may call 1955, the foreign workers hotline to report such a violation of the Animal Protection Act. You may collect a reporting award from your local animal protection agency.
